Curtains without Borders

Curtains Without Borders is a Vermont nonprofit dedicated to documenting and preserving historic painted stage scenery found in town halls, grange halls, theaters, and opera houses. The curtains date from roughly 1890 to 1940.

Carolyn Frisa works as a conservator for the nonprofit and travels around the country helping to preserve these pieces of history. The photo shown above is of a recent curtain conservation project in Gypsum Kansas.
